All the different people that inhabit this earth understand the real importance of "keeping their word" to whoever they give it. This is nothing new in the world, and many people do this very important thing in order to survive in this world. Some give their word that they will pay their grocery bill at the end of the month in order to get food for that day or week, knowing that if they break their word that they won't be able to get credit or food anymore from that person or business.
This also happens in every other part of life; it's just the way that certain human beings have trustful relationships with others, or negative ones if that's the case. But nonetheless this has been and will always be a very real part of human life.
In 1969, Vine Deloria Jr. wrote a book entitled Custer Died for Your Sins. In his book, he wrote that "the united states government signed more than 400 treaties with Indians and violated every single one"! Signing treaties is another form or way of "giving one's word," and the government did this not only with the Indians but they also did it to all other people(s) that they came in contact with. This is part of the u.s. government's history. It's how they win, how they lie, how they cheat!
Anyone who stands in their way of getting what they want has been subjected to this sort of trickery at one time or another. Especially if those person(s) or People(s) are considered "different"!
When San Francisco District Attorney Kamala Harris was running for office to become the district attorney for San Francisco, she told everyone that she would not seek the death penalty for anyone because she didn't believe in it. She told this to everyone and said it in such a way that no one could misunderstand her or what she meant. She said it plain so as not to confuse anyone. She signed a treaty with the people who ultimately voted her into office. She gave her word, and she is keeping her word! She understands the importance of this act unlike other people who work for the government.
These people, such as the police, the attorney general of the state, and the governor all want her to "break or violate her treaty, her word." They want her to do what the united states government as a whole has historically done. They want her not only to break her word, they also want for her to have another poor Black man put on death row so that they can murder him, something else that they have historically done!
It's good to know that in this age of deceit and corruption that there is a politician who works for the government who refuses to do what is politically correct and historic, and will not "break her word or her treaty" just because of pressure from her colleagues. Her word is more important than they are and that's truly impressive.
